At the beginning of the course period, students will be given a realistic assignment of designing a HTML/CSS based Microsite for a fictive exhibition of a famous artist/designer/architect. Alongside doing research for the assignment, the first week starts off with skills training using the software Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Image Ready and Macromedia Dreamweaver for creating Web-Standards-compliant Webdesign.
Additionally, here will be a series of lectures by Dr. Ole Lund from Gjøvik Høgskolen (lectures will be in Norwegian):
ERGONOMI I DIGITALE MEDIER
Mon 4th April Kunnskap i brukergrensesnittet
Tue 5th April Kunnskap i verden
Wed 6th April Navigasjon i medieapplikasjoner
Wed 6th April Brukskvalitetsmetodikk
In the second week, the focus will be on designing the microsite's identity and creating the Information Architecture. Part of the second week will also be the seminar on Interaction Design organized by KHiB and UiB during which international guests talk about Interaction Design in research and practice on the 12th of April (lectures will be in Norwegian and English).
The third week is for the finishing process. Students are expected to hand in — at best the designed and fully coded microsite — at least a reasonable webdesign in form of a clickable "dummy version".
Please note that the "essay"-part of the course has been cancelled!
Students are expected to independently elaborate a website design in respect to the above mentioned issues. Students are encouraged to fully code their web projects, but a "clickable" dummy version of the assignments may also be sufficient.
